A Love Letter to the Rocky Mountains (Why You MUST Visit Banff National Park)

Advertisements

The Canadian Rockies are a shining example of the best our world has to offer. Like many who’ve been fortunate to visit, the feeling of awe and wonder I experienced in the shadow of its many inspiring peaks, along the shores of its glimering blue lakes, and seemingly endless forests has stuck with me long after I left the Rocky Mountains behind.

I hope this video evokes your wanderlust, makes you feel Saudades for a place you’ve been before or yet to see, and inspires you to seek out similar experiences and emotions in your own Rocky Mountain adventure.

NASA Kennedy Space Center Tour | Space Shuttle Atlantis, Saturn V / Apollo Center & More

Advertisements

The Kennedy Space Center, located on the Space Coast of Central Florida, is home to NASA’s primary launch facilities and is the most important spaceport in the world. Iconic programs and vehicles such as Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, the Space Shuttle, and now the Artemis program have all used the Kennedy Space Center as their launching point into space, and into history.

Besides being an active spaceport for NASA and its multitude of commercial partners including SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy, the Kennedy Space Center also provides a visitors complex and daily tours for the general population to explore, learn and look up in awe and wonder at its many modern and historical peices on display and interactive exhibits.

In January of 2024, I made the trip to Orlando and booked a day tour to the Kennedy Space Center where I was able to witness such peices as the Space Shuttle Atlantis, a complete Saturn V rocket and Lunar Lander, a Rocket garden of NASA’s most ionic flight vehicles, Alan Shepard’s Apollo 14 EVA suit he wore on the surface of the moon, and so much more.

I highly recommend taking the time to visit the Kennedy Space Center, you’ll be at a loss for words after witnessing so much of human history and achievement. I hope this video helps convey what an incredible experience it is, and convinces you to add this to your travel bucket list.

Space Shuttle Atlantis Revealed | NASA Kennedy Space Center Exhibit

Advertisements

Experience the awe-inspiring unveiling of the Space Shuttle Atlantis at the Atlantis exhibit, located at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, displayed as only the astronauts in space would have seen her: rotated 43.21 degrees, payload doors open, and Canadarm at full extension. The entire presentation from start to finish in an incredibly well thought out and executed experience, and showcases the orbiter Atlantis, and the entire Shuttle Program at its best. If you’re ever in central Florida, the Kennedy Space Center and the Atlantis Exhibit are well worth the visit.

I have the full video of my incredible day at the Kennedy Space Center coming out this Sunday, so stay tuned and subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss it!

First Time at EPCOT! | Is Disney World Worth the High Price?

Advertisements

In January I travelled to Orlando, Florida and spent a full day in EPCOT at Walt Disney World. While the price of a single day park ticket is definitely steep, I thought the cost was at least marginally justified for the unique experience it provides. I really enjoyed my time wandering through the different nations in World Showcase, and found lots of different rides and other exhibits to keep my entertained throughout the remainder of the day, culminating in an incredible fireworks display after sunset. Do you think the high price of entry is justified? Which Disney World theme park is your favourite? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Canadian Sunset Timelapse – Photo Friday #12

Advertisements
Advertisements

Welcome back to Photo Video Friday!

I was finally able to make it out to the lake last weekend, thanks to the ice going out earlier than expected. This means a whole bunch of good things, most notable of which is the ability to sit on the dock with a piping hot coffee to watch the sun as it sets below the horizon.

Long before I started this blog, or even made seekingsaudades.com, I created a YouTube channel with the intent of one day posting travel videos. Until now, I’ve never uploaded anything, instead choosing to focus on creating content here. I figured I needed to get the YouTube train rolling at some point, and so today I decided to do just that.

Luckily, time-lapses are technically photos, so I can shamelessly promote my YouTube channel here and still have it loosely connect to the blog. This particular time-lapse was taken on April 17, 2020 in Algonquin Highlands, Ontario.

I would greatly appreciate it if you considered subscribing to my YouTube channel once you’re finished watching the video. While I don’t have any immediate plans to post a bunch of content, I will be making an effort this summer to try and put together some videos of whatever travels I end up doing.

Thanks for all of your support, and see you next week!

Illusions of Time (Vsauce)

Advertisements
Advertisements

The other day, I came across a YouTube video called Illusions of Time by Vsauce. If you’re interested in science, and the odd quirks of the world and the universe, you’ve probably heard of this channel. If not, I highly recommend checking it out and subscribing; there’s a lot of really interesting and thought-provoking videos!

In this video, Illusions of Time, the host Michael dives deep into the concept of time, and how we as humans perceive it in different aspects of our life. It’s about 30 minutes in length, but well worth the watch as there are numerous moments within it where you question how you are choosing to live your life, and how the choices you make are crucial to getting the most out of your time on this planet. (Kind of like Seeking Saudades?)

Of course, the video itself does a much better job of explaining these concepts than I do, so give it a watch for yourself below!
